In June 2017, I launched a call for a third documentary project “Ser mujer en Latinoamerica”. This independent production was aimed to showcase the different degrees of gender-based violence in the region. Thanks to the help of dozens of female activists and local organizations the support increased and by the deadline in July 31st, 391 participants from 22 countries told how they experienced gender-based violence.
After analyzing results, a month and a half later I decided to launch a second phase to the project with the goal of unifying knowledge and experiences from developed countries, which have significantly reduced gender inequality, as well as countries in development in Latin America and beyond.
Before we go any further, I want to make it very clear that this is not an effort to tell Latin American women and societies what they need or must do.
The objective of this second phase is to create a solutions roadmap for them to choose what can or could work on their different countries and contexts.
If you are a female activist, artist, professor, researcher, illustrator, entrepreneur, photographer or journalist with a specialty on gender or gender violence, feel free to voluntarily join the project here.
The global call will be open until October 15th, 2017.
